The Millennium Challenge Corporation aimed to build a new model for delivering aid—one that would generate long-term, community-wide impact. Through the Data Collaboratives for Local Impact (DCLI), they set out to establish data and digital development infrastructure that prioritized women and youth. Chaski was brought in to provide full service strategic communications services for six years, including creating a compelling brand and website, and providing international event management services.
Collaborating with U.S. government and in-country teams, we developed an optimistic brand identity for Sub-Saharan African and U.S. audiences. The Tanzania Data Lab (dLab) logo was created through a crowdsourcing competition. We balanced creativity and compliance, designing accessible and culturally sensitive materials within federal web standards. Additionally, we developed collateral and organized the Tanzania Data Tamasha, an international event to support storytelling and stakeholder engagement.
The launch of the Data Collaboratives for Local Impact website spotlighted success stories and toolkits from Tanzania in alignment with broader U.S. Government goals—contributing to the launch of a new collaborative in Côte d’Ivoire in partnership with Microsoft.
